Electromagnetic Compatibility Arrangements

Appendix A: EMC standards concordance

The ACA/RSM have mandated the following EMC aspects of the standards listed below:

  1. EMC phenomenon of emitted disturbance associated with:

atlas conducted (continuous and intermittent) radiofrequency disturbance
atlas radiated radiofrequency disturbance.

  2. Test procedures and requirements associated with the above EMC phenomenon.

Transitional arrangements for amendments to the standards are:

atlas two (2) years for IEC, CISPR, AS/NZS standards at the time of publication
atlas

transitional period as published in the Official Journal of the European Communities for EN standards.

The transitional arrangement is the time period where the ACA/RSM recognises conformity to either the 'earlier' or 'later' version of the same standard for products supplied to the market. Upon expiry of the transitional period, the ACA/RSM only recognises the 'later' version of a standard for compliance purposes with the EMC scheme.

EMC Code of Practice

The ACA and the Australian Electrical and Electronic Manufacturers Association (AEEMA) have worked together to develop a code of practice for electromagnetic compatibility for industrial electrical equipment. Industry signatories to the code are committed to make available instructions to minimise radiofrequency emissions from their equipment.

A copy of the code is available at the AEEMA website at: www.aeema.asn.au or the ACA website.
